Organisation to Stop Military Intervention against Iran Mobilizes

CASMII | 26.04.2006 17:54 | Anti-militarism | London | World

CASMII, the Campaign Against Sanctions and Military Intervention in Iran, is stepping up its efforts to bring pressure on the British and US governments not to take military action against Iran.

CASMII, the Campaign Against Sanctions and Military Intervention in Iran, is stepping up its campaign to stop the steady move to war against Iran. The organisation which formed last year in Britain and America, has rapidly grown in size. This month they attended the Times Debate speaking for the motion that "The Threat Posed by Iran has been Greatly Exaggerated". They have launched a number of high level and grass roots campaigns and had several well attended meetings. The next CASMII meeting will be at 6.30 on Friday 28th April on the 4th Floor, Imperial College Union.

Our individual views on many issues differ but we are united in our opposition to sanctions and military attacks against Iran. We are an open, accountable and democratic organisation. CASMII is independent of all political groups and governments, in particular the Iranian government, and adheres to no particular religion or ideology.
Our core values include respect for human rights and a democratic state, in particular freedom of expression, freedom of press, an independent judiciary, equal rights for women, ethnic and religious minorities in Iran.

We call on Iranians and non-Iranians alike to join us to build a strong independent international campaign to stop another disastrous war in the Middle East before it starts.
