Mayday Events – Monday 1st May
Mayday is International workers day, born out of the struggle for an 8 hour day in 1886. Throughout the years since various actions and demonstrations have taken place to continue the resistance against exploitation and to celebrate workers and people from around the world.
Critical Mass bike ride - Meet 11am under Waterloo Bridge (South Side). There is no predetermined route but there will probably be a picnic stop somewhere.
Autonomous Bloc on the TUC march – Meet 12pm on Clerkenwell Green. For self-organised workers, migrant workers, non-unionised workers, agency workers, cash in hand workers, dole claimants, free lancers, work rejecters and anyone else.
Beating the Bounds – Trafalgar Square 12pm. Action against the exclusion zone.
Mayday Police Victory Celebrations – Bank of England 2pm
Critical Mass
Fancy a cycle? Meet Friday 31st from 18.00-19.00 on the Sounthbank near Waterloo Roundabout
Exxon Mobil – Climate Criminals Event – Wednesday 26th at 5pm to 7pm
On the corner of Kingsway and Aldwych (East side). This is an opportunity both to point the finger at the people really responsible for stopping the world take effective action on climate change (the people behind Bush) and to raise awareness of the urgency to take action to avoid complete climate chaos, at a location which is very busy on a weekday evening (and only a stones throw from Covent Garden). Anybody wanting to come with imaginative banners/displays/ sculpture/street theatre etc to put over the climate-threat message especially welcome.
