Oppose Boatyard eviction

Jericho Community Boatyard | 03.04.2006 15:58 | Social Struggles | Oxford

Castle Mill Boatyard, in Jericho, Oxford, is under threat. As the last public boatyard on the Oxford Canal, it is an indispensable resource for the local narrowboat community, in particular residential boat owners. However British Waterways wants to develop the land for another unsympathetic, unsustainable development in association with Bellway Homes Ltd.

Castlemill boatyard is under imminent eviction alert !
British Waterways have applied for, but do not yet have an eviction order. We may have as little as seven days left before eviction from the date it is granted.

Please can you help ? We urgently need the following :

D locks
Tarps
lights and batteries
hard hats and yellow jackets
jerry cans
water containers
scaffold bars
chain link fencing
boarding for banners.
generators
Hand powered siren and fog horns

This is the campaign to retain the Boatyard, and so save Oxford's boating community from extinction.

great stuff boaters!
We talk alot in Oxford but few actually put this into action. This is a great opportunity to put a stop to unsustainable development, support a lifestyle that has a small carbon footprint and put the brakes on a unaccountable public company (British waterways)
You have my support, it is time to turn off the TV and get stuck in

Up for it
