The IMC Monitoring Team here in Bristol would like to offer a big vote of thanks to all those who have helped us over the past year. What started as a small rant by a single former IMC editor has turned into something much more profound and has proved the need for a truly independent news and media service in the UK.
Indymedia in other countries has resisted the attempts by small groups to gain control and the major focus of the IMC Monitoring Team over the next 12 months will be to help the UK activist community to regain control of the UK newswire and build on the policy of Independent News where the contributors decide the future of the site in a non hieracical, collective decision making process.
Our new swerver means we can now offer a documented archive of all IMC UK contributions, as as ever with a gurantee of no hiding, editing or removing of posts and comments. The rather pathetic attempts to hack the new server were met with derisive laughter by one of our technical team, "is that the best they can do?"
