Rumi | 30.03.2006 03:18 | Migration | Social Struggles | London

This evening Iranian Refugees and Asylum Seekers held a protest outside the British Parliament - to protest against the continued removal by the British goverment of Iranian refugees to Iran and the deportations of other people from around the world who seek asylum in the UK. They were joined in this protest by London Noborders and Rhythms of Resistance samba band.

Today around 30-40 Iranian asylum seekers' seekers and refugees continued their 3rd day of protest against the Home Office's asylum laws The protest was from 8am-6pm - and around 5.30pm they were joined by activists from London Noborders and Rhythms of Resistance samba band

Thousands of asylum seekers who have fled the Islamic regime of Iran and have come to Britain are faced with appalling and inhumane conditions. Many have either been refused asylum and issued removal orders or are in the precarious situation of waiting. An illegal, unsafe and unprotected life has been imposed on many of them.

According to reports published by the Home Office, in 2005 alone more than 600 Iranian asylum seekers were deported back to the Islamic regime of Iran and many more are at risk of being deported in the future. Deporting Iranian asylum seekers to an Islamic dictatorship is taking place despite the fact that any opposition is violently crushed, dissidents suppressed, executions have increased, unfair trials are norms, freedom of speech and press is denied, and human rights are violated with impunity.

Today in the face of this repression - many Iranian people in britain came out and joining with the sambistas and Noborders activists raised again the cry:

No Borders - No Nations - Stop Deportations!

To make this desire for a better world we don't need your sympathy - we need your active support- so come out and join us
