Picket line report Derby

Despite being a bitter cold day there were plenty of workers who in their wisdom decided to turn back from the picket lines while others worked? The workers however certainly expressed their sympathy with those picketing.
Not sure of exact numbers but, certainly a good turn out for the mass rally in the Market Square. There are lots of schools closed as well as council buildings, libraries and a distinct lack of traffic wardens. Ironically on my way to the mass assembly I came across a mural painted on the end the old silk mill depicting a scene from the 1834 lock out with workers carrying banners of union strength, civil disobedience, dancing and football; the building is now a pub the “Old Silk Mill”
