39 years ago this month the 'Torrey Canyon', the first of the big supertankers carrying a cargo of 120,000 tons of oil struck Pollard's Rock between the Scilly Isles and Land's End, killing most of marine life along the British and French coasts. Rice on Iraq: "This War Came To Us, Not The Other Way Around"
In Iraq, Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice made a surprise visit to Baghdad Sunday. During her top-secret trip Rice claimed the U.S. invasion of Iraq was not a preemptive attack. She said "this war came to us, not the other way around." Rice vowed the U.S. would remain in Iraq until Iraq can "defend itself." She also warned Syria that it is "standing in the way of the Iraqi people's desire for peace."  http://www.democracynow.org/article.pl?sid=05/05/16/1329238
