UPDATE 30/03/06 Convergence centre will be pretty basic, sorry, very much a last minute arrangement - but you'll be able to dump any bags while you're out protesting, get information etc.
the protest being plannned for the arrival of conddoleeza rice has generated nation wide and international interest politically it will be an acid test for all of us here in liverpool.
as a way of helping facilitate the carnival of protest, a springtime revival of resistance ...we have set up a temporary convergence centre for activists arriving here att 52 Roscoe Street near the old cathedral.
the folks there have loaned it for the use of. cheers! donations for the privilege will be asked. other places are being checked for use as we speak. any old buildings and spaces are suitable.if anybody can open the Rodney steet youth club up that would be ideal. For the purposes of meetings, drum practice, banner making and general information sharing processes.
hopefully the space will be place for activist from a far to gather and get details of the days proceeding and be able to join in the actual expereince a "Peacestock" and a chance of informal meetings with ocals and a place to dump heavy bags, sleep and get some healthy food. volunteers may be needed to help, but a provisional catering crew would be useful.
unwinding and getting to know the area as a city of culture would be our task to do. at the stirling peacececamp eco village during the g8 protest the people of stirling were quite tolerate of the demonstrators, we had an entourage of 5000 police to tuck us in at night.
here the food prices would provoke a revolution alone,so we should try and lay on grub scran and some food too and maybe3 even get roger mcgough to the "alternative show" the counter cultural gigs that bring the best of us together, where we can listen to music.and plot revolution over veggie goodies.
it will be a happening .. a social centre of sorts. a dream factory and a catalyst for change to do other things differently in the city.
the unity of the movement against bush and blair and their puppets rice and straw is critical for us all a solidarity of the highest order is required to fight and slay the capitalist beast and global war machine she represents.
on behalf of liverpool social forum welcome to the culture of city wide resistance.
