First Aid Training at Matilda, Sheffield 1/04

Street Medics Unite! | 21.03.2006 12:34 | Education | Health | Sheffield

The UK Action Medics will be running a one-day training on Saturday the 1st April at Matilda Social Centre, Sheffield.

This training will equip you with the basic skills to prevent and treat injuries, both in domestic and activist situations. It's by no means a comprehensive course, but we certainly cram in as much as we can into the day. There may even be fake blood!

Basic First Aid skills are an incredibly valuable thing to have, and are potentially lifesaving in every situation, from kitchen hazards in the home to police hazards on the street.

The UK Action Medics are a network of activists who have medical skills, from first aid to qualified doctors. We want to ensure that ourselves and others are trained in the unique areas of medicine in protest situations (eg. CS gas and the working conditions) in addition to standard first aid.

Extended trainings are scheduled for later this year - why not try this training as a taster?

If you'd like to attend the one-day training, email  training@actionmedics.org.uk to book a place. The day will run from 9am at the Matilda Social Centre, 111 Matilda St, Sheffield (down from Arundel Gate, Gatecrasher and The Plug) and will include a meal. Donations are requested to fund the travel costs of trainers.
