When Corporations Come to Campus:
Can Academic Freedom Survive in a Corporate World?

A student-organised, public event linking students and academics from the UK with those in the US to discuss the implications of increasing ties between corporations and academia.

Speakers include Dr Ignacio Chapela of Berkeley university, California, Aubrey Blumsohn and Thanos Mergoupis - all of whom have experienced attempted suppression regarding controversial research; the George Fox 6- prosecuted for protesting at a university-hosted 'Corporate Venturing' conference and Colwyn Williamson of the Campaign for Academic
Standards. Lancaster Vice-CHancellor refused to come (wonder why, perhaps becuase his cronies at BAE Systems and Shell aren't going to be there perhaps?
