There will be a demonstration at Bethel Street police station tomorrow morning (16th) at 8:30am.
Djillali, Algerian born musician who has lived here for 12 years, is being held in Bethel Street pending immigration arriving. Djillali has supported stop the war events by playing his political songs.
It is possible that he could be deported to Algeria where he is at risk of being tortured since the UK has a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Algeria.
"These MOUs will not prevent torture," said Sarah Leah Whitson, executive director of Human Rights Watch's Middle East and North Africa division. "On the contrary, they are tacit admissions that torture is practiced and that these individuals are at risk."
He was arrested on the morning of Wednesday 15th March. A demonstration that evening brought out several supporters, one person was allowed to speak to him.

Djillali Update
17.03.2006 13:44
A number of you have shown support for Djillali Salemkour who is appealing against a decision to return him to his 'country of origin' which the authorities believe is Algeria. He was moved in the middle of the night to Harmendsworth detention centre near Heathrow. Ian Gibson, his solicitor and others are in contact with him and we continue to battle against his deportation. There will be a meeting at 7pm at St Andrews Tavern tonight (17th March) to discuss further action.
