Earth Day - Saturday 22 April

22 April is Earth Day. In 1970, hot on the heels of the anti-Vietnam war movement, 2 million people in the US took part in demonstrations, protests, mass conservation projects and tree planting activities to save the planet.

Cardiff Campaign against Climate Change, along with other environmental and political organisations, is planning a mass demonstration and protest march. We also hope to organise some other events on the same day.

For more info. / or to add your organisation to the list of supporters of this event, e-mail:

Just FYI:Earth Day - March equinox

There appear to be two Earth Days. The original, and international one:
"The first Proclamation of Earth Day was by San Francisco... Designating the First Day of Spring, March 21, 1970 to be Earth Day, this day of nature's equipoise was later sanctioned in a Proclamation signed by Secretary General U Thant at the United Nations where it is observed each year." (from  http://www.earthsite.org/)
- this is confirmed by  http://www.un.org/Pubs/CyberSchoolBus/calendar/cyberschoolbus_calendar.asp

The Earth Day Network celebrates instead April 22:
