Oxford City Council will meet on 20th March to decide the fate of a historic copper beech tree which has stood in Oxford University's science area for well over one hundred years. The meeting comes after a long battle to save the tree from being felled to make way for a new biochemistry building. Opponents to the University's proposals argue that the plans can be modified to incorporate the tree without loss of space. Those seeking to save the tree are calling on supporters to email local councillors and attend the open meeting later this month. Link:  http://www.copperbeech.info/
