Photos showing volunteers at Ecoworks in Nottingham, building foundations for a straw bale building using old car tyres and clay.
The car tyres have their rims rammed with clay which will harden when fully dry. When this stage is finished the central area of the tyre is dug out so that no clay is left at its base. Then the central parts of the tyres are filled with stones / gravel for drainage.
