Life without Water? public meeting

OxWDM & OxPSC | 09.03.2006 20:39 | Globalisation | Social Struggles | Oxford

22nd March is World Water Day and the World Water Forum (WWF), (private sector think tank) is being held in Mexico City.

Wednesday 22nd March, 7:30pm

The World Water Forum is dominated by private sector interests, with little input from civil society organisations. Access to water is necessary for all, for our livelihoods, our lives and that of the planet. Yet for many, access to water is under difficult conditions, or priced out of their reach.

Oxford World Development Movement Group and Oxford Palestine Solidarity Campaign have organised a public speaker meeting, 'LIFE WITHOUT WATER?' which aims to address the importance of water in the lives of those whose access to it is limited, and suggest ways forward.

Speakers and topics are:
- Maggie Black, author of the No-nonsense Guide to Water: Water: a matter of life and health

- Richard Stanforth, Oxfam: Providing Water Under Occupation: Oxfam's water programme in the Palestinian Territories

- Kevin Meaney, WDM: presenting a short film - Dirty Aid, Dirty Water

Wednesday 22nd March, 7:30pm

At: Long Room, Oxford Town Hall, St Aldates.
Donation £2/£1. All welcome.
