Why No Transparency on Funding?

Anti-idealogue | 09.03.2006 16:11

I ask again, where does Indymedia gets its funds please?

I have asked a reasonable question with regard from where
Indymedia receives its funds and your answer about the subject not being open to discussion is daft.
The only reason I can think of that would prevent you giving
out this information is that you have something to hide.
You don't want people to know where the funds come from
in case you upset some of the users of Indymedia,
but you are making people nervous as well as upset by keeping this information secret.
How are we going to help build a world where trust, honesty and respect are to the fore when the messenger service
of new and bright ideas is so secretive?
It doesn't add up, stop behaving like politicians who want to hide the fact that they are making thousands of pounds on the side and not declaring it to parliament!
Who's running this service Tessa Jowell?

This is a newswire, not an agony auntie's column.

Go to lists.indymedia.org and find an appropriate list to engage in your fasct finding mission on.

reply to troll

You are a well known disinfo troll and your posts are routinely hidden.
You misrepresent yourself as a wide variety of either non-existing groups or as spokesperson for groups you have nothing to do with,
You attempt to publish misinformation to confuse, disrupt and discredit people and campaigns,
You publish false information about dates, venue, times, actions, meetings and arrests.
You have been doing this for well over a year.

Your question about IMC funding are just further attempts to discredit.

The funding is open to all to see. It is documented in the indymedia documentation site and is no secret.
We are talking about a bank account which usually has a couple of hundred quid, sometimes a couple of grand.

As for how the money is generated... it comes from personally donations (mostly from people who are within IMC collectives) and from benefits at social centres and similar projects such as the one at St' Georges church which raise several thousand pounds prior to the G8.

I'd like to think that exposing you would make you go away but I know it won't. You are either a sad lonely prat with too much time on his hands or are being paid to discredit and disrupt leftwing political groups. Either way, I know you are here to stay but you know that your posts will always be hidden.

What a check!

"I have asked a reasonable question with regard from where Indymedia receives its funds and your answer about the subject not being open to discussion is daft. "

classic! he posted the comment apparently from 'IMCer' himself!

This is typical of the way this troll works. He posts something as one group then posts replies claiming to be anothor and tries to make it look like an unreasonable exchange. He did this a lot on the run up to the G8 by slagging of dissent with a wide range of bullshit (funding being one of his favorite topics) and then posting comments pretending to be somebody else either backing up his position or creating imaginary conflict from others.

"The only reason I can think of that would prevent you giving out this information is that you have something to hide. You don't want people to know where the funds come from in case you upset some of the users of Indymedia, "

What funds? What information? His posts contain no information. He tries to make it look like his posts have been censored by inserting XXXXXXX over bits of it that would apparently reveal the horrible truth. But what kind of nonsense is that? If indy admins felt the need to censor bits of his posts, do you really think they'd past XXXXX over his text rather than just delete it?

"How are we going to help build a world where trust, honesty and respect are to the fore when the messenger service of new and bright ideas is so secretive? "

Ha... like this scum really wants to build a world where trust, honesty and respect are to the fore!
