"Condoleezza Rice has been at the heart of the conspiracy to create the conditions that led to the US/UK invasion of Iraq in 1993. She was then the US National Security Adviser and a close confidante of President George Bush. She will have been involved at every stage in planning the immoral and illegal invasion of Iraq.

We call on our civic leaders to boycott any events that are planned involving her. We ask the musicians of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra not to play for her.

Condoleezza Rice is not welcome in our city. Think of the hundred thousand Iraqis who have died and of the children. Think of Abu Ghraib, Guantanamo jail and extraordinary rendition. Think of our soldiers who have died needlessly in this illegal war."
