Under-reporting of British casualties in Iraq: Analysis published in the Lancet

The highly renowned medical research journal, The Lancet, has published an analysis of government under-reporting of British casualties in the Iraq war. The research, conducted by a Professor Sheila Bird of the MRC Biostatistics Unit at Cambridge, illustrates that casualty figures are almost certain to be much higher than stated by John Reid, the Minister of Defence, and argues that the failure to properly count UK military casualties in Iraq must end.

Houghton sounds the retreat - Telegraph

07.03.2006 13:26

"Most British troops should have been withdrawn from Iraq by the summer of 2008 under a phased plan disclosed to The Daily Telegraph yesterday by the most senior Army officer in Baghdad. The first movements could come within weeks, said Lt Gen Nick Houghton. He detailed the timetable to end months of speculation over when the first of Britain's 8,000 contingent will be brought home.

The process will involve a four-stage disengagement that is scheduled to begin this spring, or at the latest by the end of the summer"

Stage 1 - Massacre one more city just for the hell of it
Stage 2 - Blow up a few mosques, assasinate the peace makers
Stage 3 - Try and blame Iran while shouting Civil War !
Stage 4 - Get the fuck out of Dodge, prepare for the next oil grab

I think the real import of the Telegraph report is that they are claiming to be staying for 2 1/2 years. I doubt they'll make it that long.
