Tree Protest still going STRONG!

borris | 07.03.2006 09:17 | Ecology | South Coast

Still going!!!

The site was re-occupied last thursday and The protest site in Shepton mallet is still going strong, lots of building work has continued by activists including a multistorey tree house.

The site has had no eviction order placed on it yet but we are not sure if the previous eviction order still stands?

The trees that are occupied are mainly mature scots pines over 70ft tall, walkways have been being put up but need more so any climbers that can hep would be appreciated!

People also needed for the day to day running of the camp, there are some really committed local support, some of which have been doing night watch. Also there is a police van on site after saturdays action of stopping work. But they are only watching from a distance.

We need some new people with lots of energy on site to help in the fight to stop Tesco destroying anymore trees in Shepton Mallet.

although the site is next to a road, we fell asleep in a tree house to the sound of owls calling the other night, so it is important to protect these trees for them!

love peace and get ur ass down there
