One rule for the rich

I know the inequality of the rich being supported by the state while the poor suffer and are vilified should not be news to anyone but here are two contrasting stories on today’s BBC News website.

"About £10bn is being lost by the government each year to tax avoidance schemes, according to HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC). The figure is equal to almost 3p on the basic rate of income tax."

My guess is that this will be a gross underestimate (just think what Rupert Murdock earns and he pays no tax in the UK)

“Plans to shake up incapacity benefits will fail unless changes are made to the way people are assessed, the Citizens Advice Bureau has warned. It believes thousands of people who are sick or have disabilities are being wrongly denied benefit each year.”

Guess which group are being targeted by the planned multi-billion pound ID card and a national identity register?
