Random Searches on Sheffield Midland Rail Station 28-2-2006

Police use sniffer dogs and random searches on Sheffield Midland Rail Station.

Whilst commuting home yesterday I noticed a police officer and sniffer dog ( Golden Labrador ) on the station. I stood there a few minutes watching and noticed that any young males walking through were asked to be checked over by the dog.

Odd behaviour. None of them looked liked they were carrying rucksacks full of explosive ( but may have had a stash of weed in their pockets )

As a bigtime coke dealer on a drop i'm dressed smartly and fortunately was not troubled in any way.

I wonder what pretext was used for these ad-hoc searches.
