DEAR FRIENDS

BISON Coalition is urgently looking for a cameraman with a good equipment to film the demo on Friday (at 2 pm) the 3rd of March in front of the Polish Embassy. It would be perfect to have some technical support from you afterwards, to make the video available to TV stations and internet users.

If you may help us please contact Martin on 0772 4485 022 or simply show up on Friday at 47 Portland Place, London W1B 1JH.

The last natural forest, almost untouched by human hand, with the richest biodiversity in Europe – The Bialowieza Primeval Forest – is calling for help. The Forest is divided between two states, Poland and Belarus, and is facing many problems of which the biggest is the different form of protection in both countries. The Belarussian part (ca. 85 000 ha) is entirely protected as a national park.

Unfortunately in the Polish part (ca. 65 000 ha) only 16% is a National Park and years of campaigning to increase the boundaries of the national park to include the entire forest have failed.
On March the 3rd 2006, BISON, the Bialowieza International Solidarity Network, together with people who care about The Bialowieza Primeval Forest, join together to make their voices heard and take action in front of Polish Embassies all around the world.

On the day of action there will be demonstrations in front of Polish Embassies in: London (UK), Dublin (Ireland), Briest (Belarus), Prague (Czech Republic), Bratislava (Slovakia), Helsinki (Finland), Bucharest (Romania), Leipzig (Germany), Vienna (Austria), Colombo (Sri Lanka), Pretoria (South Africa), Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne (Australia), Seoul (South Korea), Toronto (Canada), Tokyo (Japan), probably also in Kiev (Ukraine), Ottawa and Montreal (Canada), and Kampala (Uganda). In Warsaw the BISON coalition will visit the Polish President.

The President of Poland has already received over 4000 letters from scientists concerned about the Bialowieza Forest from the USA, Belarus, Spain, Mexico, UK, France, Germany, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Netherlands, Finland, Armenia, Italy and Australia. YOU CAN BE THE NEXT PERSON TO JOIN THEM.
