Urban poor give Irish cops a kicking!

Saturday saw a major riot in Dublin in response to an attempted Loyalist 'Love Ulster' march through the main street of the capital. For three hours hundreds rioted in the city centre, banks and shops were attacked and looted and cars were set on fire.

Six gardai (Irish police) were injured in the sustained violence as 1,000's of protesters launched attack after attack on police lines forcing the rally involving Orangemen and relatives of IRA murder victims to be cancelled.
The disinfranchised of Dublin used the excuse of a loyalist (Northern Irish Prodestants) march to attack police.
