Mission against Terror

Brian | 27.02.2006 06:01 | Terror War

The title sound like a B-grade movie, but this documentary is about one of the worst legal atrocities of our time: the Imprisonment of 5 cubans keeping watch on terrorists in Florida.

MISSION AGAINST TERROR
A documentary by Bernie Dwyer & Roberto Ruiz Rebo

This award-winning documentary tells the story of the "Cuban 5" who were imprisoned in the U.S. for fighting against terrorism.
From the dvd cover: As Havana wakes up to another day, five Cuban men are serving their time in prisons scattered throughout the United States.
Their crime? Protecting their country and people against terrorism.
Arrested on September 12, 1998 and subjected to a trial, which U.S. civil rights lawyer, Leonard Weinglass, calls a "violation" from start to finish, the Cuban 5 were locked away for a total of three life sentences plus 68 years.

On August 10, 2005 a federal appeals court overturned the convictions of the Cuban 5, and ordered a new trial, a new battle has begun for their supporters: winning their release from prison. This documentary also charts Cuba's 45-year struggle against terrorism.
