UK documentary about death wins JVC international 2006 video award in Tokyo
Life Before Death is a short doco following the directors own mother as she faces a terminal ilness. Working within the death industry with her husband, who happens to be a funeral director, doesn't seem to help. The film has been called inspiring in its way of exploring how to face our own death with confidence.
Helen will be awarded 100,000Yen and a trophy for her documentary later this month.
The jury said
'This is a video with a strange persuasive power because it sincerely grapples with the problem.'
