Dalston Lane Theatre - Workmen and Police forced entry to the occupied theatre this morning - there are now (14.30 hours) activists on the roof of both buildings and more people are needed. The second building is still occupied.
The Regentrification of Hackney continues apace, despite massive local opposition.
The theatre on Dalston Lane, which is due for demolition tomorrow, was illegally occupied this morning by police and staff from Byline, the contractors hired by Hackney Council, despite both the theatre and the building next door being occupied by activists.
There are activists on both rooftops as well as in the adjacent building, and people are urgently needed to come and help.
If you can't get down there, you may like to phone the contractors, Byline, on
0146 2670591, to register your disgust.
