Crossrail-tunnel-hole Council, Tower Hamlets, lacks basic standards

The UK’s channel 4 TV ran a programme last night [Friday 17 February 2006] cataloguing the brazen violation of democratic and civilised standards by Tony Blair regime - both in govt and within the former Labour [the Blaired-Browned 'New' Labour] party now in fast decline as a force for ethical standard in society the violence done by Blaired time-serving toughies at the 2005 party conference against a victim of Nazi Germany – Walter Wolfgang, a labour party member for 57 years, would be unbelievable if the details of his abysmal treatment were shown on a ‘foreign’ TV station. The creepy careerists who physically manhandled Walter included a black man and two white men. The two white men were reported as having been Blairing local councillors. They showed no remorse for their violence against Walter and his much younger fellow pro-democracy protester against the Blairing descent into undemocracy within the Party. The role of Blaring councillors has become a very hot political issue in the East End of London. Councillors have been found to have been touting for the Crossrail tunnel-hole attack on the community. The atmosphere of political campaigning for democratic accountability by the controlling group of Tower Hamlets Councillors is getting hotter by the day. Local MP George Galloway has already confirmed that he and his RESPECT Coalition would join the local community in civil disobedience and judicial review actions to stop the Crossrail tunnel-hole. Against this background, Blairing local Government Minister Phil Woolas’s appointment of any number of ‘Standards Board’ members looks unmistakably surreal and ridiculous.

Woolly words from Blairing local Govt Minister Phil Woolas do not inspire confidence about standard of [or in or on] Tower Hamlets Council that has made the community so cross for its crass collusion for the imposition of the Crossrail tunnel/hole attacks on our Borough
Today’s [Saturday 18 February 2006]
Blairing propaganda includes the spot allocated by all Blair-complaint ‘local govt journos’ filing piles of pliant plugs about alleged standards on local Councils in England being allegedly backed by Phil Woolas.
Woolly Woolas issued words of utter inanity on Friday 17 February 2006 to the effect that he was announcing “the appointment of three new members of the Standards Board for England. “
Khoodeelaaronline REPORTS reproduce below one of those woolly plug pieces.
In that piece, officially released-issued by Woolas on Friday 17 Feb 2006, there are references to the area of Tower Hamlets.
But those references are empty of ethical substance or constitutional validity. They are devoid of democratic legitimacy. The democratic deficit that in every area of real needs in the Borough, Tower Hamlets Council has been shown to have been abused by the controlling clique that has been making the key decisions in all the crucial areas and all the decisions have been made against the wishes and the preferences of the people in the Borough.
And the areas include the total lack of accountability to the community by the controlling clique of councillors and ‘senior employees’. This is most starkly exhibited in the dire defiance by the controlling clique of the community’s overwhelming demand that the Council pass a single resolution totally and empathetically and categorically opposing the Crossrail tunnel-hole in the Brick Lane London E1 area.

Local Government Minister Phil Woolas has announced the appointment of three new members of the Standards Board for England.
Paul Gott, Elizabeth Hall and Judith Simons have joined the Standards Board, an executive NDPB, funded by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister.
Its officers investigate allegations of misconduct against members of local authorities.
It also promotes high standards of conduct in local government by issuing guidance about the conduct of council members, and about the way in which conduct issues are dealt with by local authorities.
Local Government Minister Phil Woolas said: "I am very pleased to announce these appointments to the Standards Board. Paul Gott, Elizabeth Hall and Judith Simons will bring extensive skills and experience to help the Board to develop its role in the maintenance of high standards of conduct in local government.
"Public confidence in the conduct of local authorities is vital, so it is critical that the Board can continue to provide the support and guidance to local authority members to ensure that standards remain high."
Mr Gott is a barrister and a member of Fountain Court Chambers.
He was appointed as junior counsel to the Crown in 1999 and appointed to the Treasury Counsel "A" Panel in 2005.
He practises in commercial and employment law, with employment law specialisations in the areas of strike action, discrimination and equal pay, on which he regularly advises Government departments and private clients.
Commercial law specialisations include civil fraud, banking and accountants' negligence.
Judy Simons is Professor of English and Pro Vice Chancellor at De Montfort University, where she has responsibility for Quality and Standards and Chairs the University Human Research Ethics Committee. She is a Board member of the Higher Education Academy and Chair of Council.
She is also on the Strategic Committee for Leadership, Governance and Management at the Higher Education Funding Council for England.
She has chaired a number of national academic bodies, including the Council of University Deans of Arts and Humanities. She has published widely on literary studies and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a Fellow of the English Association.
Elizabeth Hall has worked for the past ten years in the Financial Services Authority, the single regulator for the financial services industry, mainly on consumer protection, complaints, and financial capability.
She was appointed to London Travelwatch last year, and is a member of the Queen Mary University of London Research Ethics Committee and of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets Schools Forum.
Elizabeth has several lay responsibilities in the Church of England, including chair of the Tower Hamlets Synod and as an examining chaplain for the Stepney Area.
