First Abu Hamza - you & I next?
survivalist | 08.02.2006 23:15 | Analysis
There's little doubt that the demonised Hamza had, at the very least a serious image problem and also he was clearly unhinged and potentially dangerous. Like most people, I have little sympathy for his ideals of worldwide fundamentalist islam. But browsing the hysterical mainstream media reports containing photos of a "HORRIFYING arsenal of terrorist gear" makes me rather uneasy about just what the cops trawl up and put on display as evidence of terrorism these days. Many of the items seem very normal household items and, me being fond of camping in remote places means I have a similar stash of survival gear too. How much of this kit do you own?
Wooden spoon(!): yep got plenty of those
London A-Z: have more than one of those too
Lighter gas: yep
plastic water bottles: also have some of those
survival space blanket: yes
glass cutterr: yes, along with all my other tools
diamond knife sharpener: yes
various pen knives: yes
khaki belt: yes
gas mask: yes, good prop on eco demos
camping pots & pans: yes quite a few
aluminium water bottles: yes
camouflage gear: yes
garden trowels: yes 2
walkie talkies: yes
handcuffs: no never done S & M
big hunting knifes: no but they're no more dangerous than kitchen knifes
starting pistols: no, they look scary but are harmless
So you see, it really doesn't take much to be seen as a terrorist these days. Also publishing photos of anyone's face lit from below can make them seem far more evil and threatening. I'm just wondering whether I should bury some of this stuff out in the garden tonight while the curtain twitching neighbours are asleep. Good job indymedia don't log IPs.

I like to do this to myself with a torch - good for scaring my nephews and nieces...
... also used in Nazi 'documentaries' about Jews/disabled folks to quite good effect - made them look real scary.

i) those arent pen knives
ii) he was convicted mainly for calling for Jews and Christians to be killed. if you are calling for Jews and Christians to be killed, then you probably will be next - i on the other hand am not and so am not scared by this conviction

- no one can come up with anyone he has inspired or helped to do terrorism
- his dangerous arsenal included fake guns
- the police, CPS, MI5 took eight years to get round to doing anything about him
- MI5 spied on him all the time and found no evidence of him planning terrorism
- lots or terrorists went to Finsbury Park mosque but MI5 spies provided no evidence in court that he conspired to anything with any of them (apart from Aswat).
What kind of dangerous terrorist who needs to be locked up is Hamza? Why on earth were the media going on and on about him? Is anyone supposed to take seriously Hamza's nonsense?
Have I missed something? Can someone tell me what's going on?

Richard Reid, the Shoebomber and the two British men who blew up Mike' Place in Tel Aviv all went are two examples of terrorists who attended his sermons.
"his dangerous arsenal included fake guns"
This is an offence in the UK - a fake gun, if used to cause fear or carried in public is a firearm. Plus if a fake gun is pointed at you, you would still shit it.
"the police, CPS, MI5 took eight years to get round to doing anything about him "
Better late than never
"MI5 spied on him all the time and found no evidence of him planning terrorism "
Wow - do you have access to all of the MI5 files on Abu Hamza, I am impressed
To the other idiot above, kindly dont compare the Nazi demonisation of Jews whose only crime was being born a different relgion to this monster who calls for the murder of all Jews and Christians.

If they had aligned themselves with the oppressed muslims in their midst, the battered wives, the invisible teenagers yearning for freedom, the terrorised youngsters....
Instead they gladly jumped into bed with the very perpetrators of these crimes. They decided to 'respect' the self-appointed representatives fo muslims, the ones who speak for everyone else with barely a couple fo years worth of education between them.
The only common trait of Leftist-acknowledged muslim leaders is a shortness of dishdasha and longness of beard.
You have succeeded in alienating the vast majority of potential supporters- the normal muslims looking for a way out of the islamic bullying and domination they have endured for centuries. You have legitimised the continued enslavement of people to religious tyranny.
Now we get a 'humorous' guy, probably wearign a Che t-shirt, somewhere in New Cross probably, hiding his support for the proto-Ladinist Abu Hamza behind an emasculated 'but' clause.
When the Left jumped into bed with the MAB, did they not know that hundreds of Leftists are murdered daily by the so-called 'resistance' in Iraq?
