The Great Leeds tenant rip off
Leeds homes formally Leeds City Council are attempting to rip off residents in a dubious legality scam.
Under Government rules all homes must be brought up to a government standard by 2010 at the latest, part of these requirements are that central heating be installed in all homes as a matter of course, residents of these homes have already seen inflation busting rent rises over the past years and now to add insult the council want residents to pay for central heating to be installed in to houses that they do not own.
If residents would like central heating installed they must pay
£3.50 per week for one or two bedrooms
£3.75 per week for 3 bedrooms
£4.40 per week for 4 bedrooms
Contracts have been placed with a local company to install central heating with prices in the range of £1450 per house, with a expected life expectancy of 15 years per system, perhaps Leeds Homes would like to explain why they want to charge residents £3432 for a central heating system that they have to install anyway when they already pay rent for such a home.
The scheme is nothing short of a complete scam and rip off.
What next, an extra £5 for a flushing toilet /
£10 for running hot water ?
£5 for a front door that closes
£10 for some windows that actually close.
Leeds homes, stop ripping off tenants and tell the truth, fitting central heating is a requirement of the government upon yourselves, perhaps they are hoping they can claw back some of the millions wasted on the dead end super tram, when they could have built new protected cycle lanes and bought every resident a new bike for less money
