DR OSCAR BISCET -Political Prisoner

Dr. Oscar Elias Biscet, a devout Christian and defender of human rights, was sentenced to 25 years in prison on April 10 2003. He was rearrested by Cuban police on December 6 2002 after attempting to attend an informal meeting of civilians on human rights. He was originally charged with disorderly conduct but was later accused of being a threat to state security.

1992- Elected President of Partido Democrático 30 de Noviembre.
1993- Active participation in the denouncement of human rights violations.
1994- Arrested-June 17th. Taken to the Department of State Security’s headquarters in Villa Marista.
Accused of sabotage. Mr. Ibarra denies any involvement and the regime has not offered any proof of his participation in any ‘sabotage’ activities.
1995- Sentenced on February 23rd to 20 years in prison without any proof and taken to the Combinado del Este prison in Havana, where he still remains in confinement.
Mr. Ibarra Roque is a defender of human rights and opposes the Castro Regime.
