2nd READING RECONVERGENCE
A local activist get together . . .

Friday 10th February, 7.00 pm

RISC Global Cafe, 35-39 London St, Reading.

This is a call out for a 2nd 'Reading Reconvergence'; a get together of local progressive grass roots activist groups and individuals. Reading based workers, non-workers, anti-capitalists, migrants, environmentalists, peace campaigners and others are invited. This will be a chance to introduce yourselves and your groups, to forge new friendships or build on old ones, to present initiatives and events and collaborate with others.

The idea for the first Reading Reconvergence, held at the end of November 2005, came out of the desire to keep active and keep moving forward together after the G8 Summit in July 2005. In preparation for the G8 Summit, many activists in Reading began to meet and started working closely together. These meetings are part of the continuation of this.

The first Reading Reconvergence, which attracted people from Reading Rising Tide, Rage Collective, Socialist Party, Green Party, Peace Group, Anarchist Federation and more, was largely a chance for groups and individuals to introduce themselves and their activity, and then continue the discussions informally. This time around, we feel that more focussed discussion of each topic and initiative would be useful.

PLEASE SEND ANY TOPICS OR INITIATIVES YOU WISH TO DISCUSS BY THUR 9TH FEB TO THE EMAIL ADDRESS OR PHONE NUMBER BELOW. THESE WILL FORM THE AGENDA FOR THE EVENING.

There will be brief introductions, and then each topic will be presented and discussed according to the agenda. There will be time for simple announcements of upcoming events too and time for socialising afterwards in the RISC Global Bar and Cafe. There will be a presentation from local anti-authoritarians Rage about the creation of a new local anti-ID card/database group, a presentation from local Heathrow residents opposing the airport expansion and more! If you, or your group, want to bring in any kind of leaflets, booklets or other resources feel free to do so! So please get in contact, and we hope to see you at the Reconvergence!

Please contact us at  readingactivists@gmail.com or phone 07833758317 and leave a message.

Solidarity in struggle, Reading Reconvergence.
