U.K. Study Shows No Link Between Child Porn and Abuse

Fatima | 05.02.2006 21:04

LANCASHIRE, U.K. — A new study conducted by the U.K.’s Lancashire Constabulary and a Ph.D. student from the University of Liverpool has found there is no connection between viewing child pornography and sexual abuse of children, a senior U.K. police officer said this week.

By Kat Kahn

The study says it finds that those who download graphic images of children via the Internet will not necessarily become child molesters.

"The consensus is that there has not proven to be a link between the viewing of pornography and the committing of hands-on offences,” Lancashire Police Detective Chief Superintendent Stuart Kirby told the International Investigative Psychology Conference on Thursday. "In a follow-up study by Lancashire Police, that was found to be clearly the case."

The study reviewed 18 men with an average age of 41 who had downloaded child porn. The study labeled 70 percent of the men as child porn “enthusiasts” who spend a majority of their time online, often live alone or with their parents, do not have children and have no previous convictions.

Thirty percent were labeled “pedophiles” who are in long-term relationships, have children but do not live with them and are unskilled and likely to change their jobs frequently. None of the 18 men were categorized as “predatory.”

A previous study conducted by Kirby reviewed 219 sex offenders and found only a fifth had re-offended during a 15-year period.

Kirby added that more research focusing on educating potential victims is needed.

"We have focused a lot on the offender and we know a lot about them and have a good understanding of them,” Kirby said. “But crime is affected by the dynamics surrounding the victim. This is an area that still needs to be explored. We are in no way saying the victim plays any role in instigating the offences. The culpability always lies with the offender. But as we learn more about the dynamics of the offences, the more we can do in terms of prevention."

If there was no demand there'd be no supply.

United Kingdom:

Under United Kingdom law, a "child pornography" image is an "indecent photograph of a child"; there is no specific requirement of sexual content, as nudity is sufficient for an image to be indecent. Similarly, "bikini" shots might be considered indecent. With a 2003 Act, the word pornography is used for the first time, defined to mean that "indecent images are recorded". Indecent photographs are defined in the Protection of Children Act 1978.

A small figure of a child in a Church could be child porn under UK law.

Um... yeah.

The point ISN'T so much that people will rape children after seeing the images, it is that every image represents the abuse and/or rape of a child, and each time it is viewed that continues the abuse- continues their body being used without their consent. Also, if you can sell child porn you create a market for it- so people will try and rape children to make profit. We don't need to give paedophiles any excuse to rape kids, let alone a financial one.

'first they came for the kiddie-diddlers...'

Two points.

One, if they wanted to get every paedo who payed for kiddie-porn, they only have to go to the credit-card companies. They don't - why is that ?. Instead they use it as an excuse for draconian invasion of our civil-liberties. Oh, thats the reason.

Two, teenage boys have been placed on the sex-offenders register in the UK for looking at online photos of nude teenage girls. The defininition of a teenage boy who wants to look at naked teenage girls is not paedophile ( the correct term is 'heterosexual' ) but placing any child on the sex-offenders register ensures social isolation and guarantees a future sex-offender.

Child abusers encouraged by Blair's new laws

05.02.2006 23:40

Why does this article MISS THE POINT? An active market in any sexual fetish on the internet produces a demand for NEW material. With child porn, this means MORE CHILD ABUSE. This is a statement of FACT, not theory. The biggest lie that is ever told is that humans are satisfied with OLD images of sexuality, so those that are interested in child abuse pictures can stick to existing material that can do no further harm. Bullsh*t. Those that seek child abuse pictures online are morally responsible for the creation of new material, and the new abuse that requires.

Of course, Blair is actively involved in encouraging child pornography (hence articles like the above) by intending to criminalise depictions of sexuality made by consenting adults, if these depictions fall into the domain of BDSM. Soon, abusers that collect images of child abuse, and thus encourage the creation of new child abuse images, will be able to say that their offence is no worse than consenting adults engaged in 'rape' play, or 'bondage' play, or many other variations of ADULT sexuality. Blair is about to propose new laws that say that if you and your partner photograph yourselves engaged in many kinds of common consential sexual fantasies, you will be sent to prison for THREE YEARS, and put on the sex offenders register. These new laws are in the consultation stage at the moment.

Blair's ministers responsible for these new laws have publically stated that consenting adult BDSM play is identical to child abuse. Is it any wonder that those that abuse children feel emboldened by the suggestion that THEY are no worse than those adults that enjoy consenting BDSM play?

For Blair, perverting our society in this way is part of creating an atmosphere of pure barbarity that will better serve his plans to begin a World War by exterminating Iran. Remember, many of Hitler's senior Nazis were gay, but it suited Hitler to very publically persecute homosexuals. For Blair, the ability to raid, imprison, and ruin adults in the UK simply because they have an interest in ADULT CONSENTING BDSM will give him the blackmail and social terror tools that worked so well for Hitler.

You need to give a source for this because it's very important if it's true. Laws like this used to exist in the past, there was an infamous police operation "operation spanner", where police officers posed as gay men looking for BDSM sex and then arrested them for assault and ABH and the like.

So please twilight, where's the source?

Operation Ore exposed

Duncan Campbell has an excellent expose of Operaqtion Ore -

 http://www.pcpro.co.uk/features/74690/operation-ore-exposed/page1.html

"Through no fault of their own, many people and their families will never recover from the false stigma of having been associated with child pornography. They are the victims of a combination of technical naivety and fear, fed by a media circus demanding fast results and the exposure of big names. As the Internet continues to become more transparent, the risk is that the stage may be set for a 21st century witch-hunt."
