Press Release

Press Release: There will be a Demonstration for the immediate withdrawal of British Troops from Iraq - 6pm Southampton Civic Centre 01.02.06

Local outrage has been expressed at the news of yet another British soldier being killed in the cause of Tony Blair's continuing illegal war.

In conjunction with protests all over the country, Southampton Stop the War Coalition are urging everyone who wants an end to British involvement in the illegal occupation of Iraq to join them in a demonstration outside Southampton Civic Centre tomorrow
Wednesday, 1 February 2006 at 6pm

Local activist, Chris Blake, from Southampton Stop the War Coalition states:
"Everything we ever said about the illegality of this war and occupation - the absence of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq as reported by the UN weapons inspectors prior to the invasion nearly three years ago, the danger to Britain's internal security as a result of the decision to go to war on a lie, have all proved to be true. We must urgently call an end to this horrible quagmire brought on by Tony Blair's unquestioning support for the Bush regime's mission to impose what it calls 'democracy' on Middle Eastern states, in flagrant violation of International Law. We are calling on the British Government to withdraw troops immediately, before any more carnage occurs."
