Sheffield WWOBB Protest Lobby of February Council Meeting

Alistair | 26.01.2006 22:25 | Social Struggles | Sheffield

We Want Our Buses Back have called a lobby of Sheffield Council's meeting on Wednesday 1st Feb, 12 midday till 2pm at the Town Hall to protest about the state of the bus service in the City.

After pressure from We Want Our Buses Back and other campaigners, the December Sheffield City Council meeting passed a resolution supporting re-regulation of the buses.

Since then, nothing has happened! Except First have announced more cuts/changes to services from the end of January, without any consultation with those affected.

So we're going back to the council to demand that they take action on what they say they want to do (Quality Bus Contarcts). Armed with over 1,000 more petition signatures, WWOBB will speak again to the council to say "We can't wait four more years" for you to act.

To increase pressure on the council we need a much bigger lobby than last time. Rhythms of Resistance (  http://www.rhythmsofresistancesheffield.org.uk/ ) have promised music and "Insurgent Clowns" (  http://www.clownarmy.org/ ) have promised humour so it should be a colourful and lively affair.

Please come along and bring others, banners and placards with you.

Posters and leaflets have been produced (see attachments). Please run some off yourself or contact us if you want bulk supplies to distibute.
