Jean Charles remembered by hundreds at Stockwell vigil.

Guido | 23.01.2006 15:54 | Repression | Social Struggles | London

Six months after the shooting of Jean Charles de Menezes 2-300 people gathered at Stockwell Tube station (the scene of the crime) to remember Jean and support his cousins. For the family it has been a very difficult time made worse by endless lies peddled by the British State and its filth…whoops… I mean Police.

No justice no peace.
No justice no peace.

Six months ago I got a call from a press agency telling me that the Police had killed a suicide bomber at Stockwell tube station. I got there within minutes to find the area was being cordoned off. An armed cop threatened me for taking pictures of the scene. At this stage the Police were already gossiping to the assembled media about the incident. They were telling them (off the record) that a terror suspect who was behaving suspiciously and possibly carrying a bomb had run away after being challenged by officers, he had vaulted over the barriers and run onto a tube train where he had been shot after refusing an opportunity to surrender.

The Police could tell the media (off the record) that the moon was made of cheese and it would be printed as fact and they know it. Did they really think they could get away with this? Were they hoping that the media circus surrounding the arrest of the failed bombers a few days later would make everyone forget about Stockwell? Did they really think that other lies they told like ‘the CCTV wasn’t working’ would cover their tracks? Or that the de Menezes family would accept the pitiful £5,000 compensation offered by the MET and forget about it. One thing they did not count on was the determination of Jean Charles’ cousins who like him were resident in the UK.

From the word go Jean Charles’ cousins were told that the IPCC (Independent Police Complaints Commission) would have to investigate the killing and then all their questions would be answered. At a press conference given by the family last Thursday this turned out to be another lie. Alessandro Pereira told the media that he had never been convinced that the IPCC would do anything other than cover up what had happened. He challenged the IPCC to surprise him, to prove that one state institution could successfully investigate another. His predictions about the enquiry were not only proved right but turned out to be even worse.

The family told the media at the vigil how the IPCC had refused to give them a copy of their findings. Even worse they were discovering its conclusions 2rd hand from deliberate leaks that were appearing in the press. Their lawyer Assad Rahman told the media that if Jean Charles’ family were white, British and middleclass they would never have been treated like this. Another of Jean Charles’ cousins Patricia da Silva Armani thanked those attending the vigil for coming and assured everyone present that they would not rest until justice had been done. Despite a huge turnout from the corporate media (Sunday is a slow News day) there has been very little coverage of the vigil in today’s papers.

Another speaker at the event was the father of Baba Ahmed another innocent victim of the so called ‘War on Terror’ that has seen his family ripped apart. Baba Ahmed was the subject of a 5am raid by anti terror Police who severely beat him and then told numerous lies about how he sustained his injuries. Baba a Brighton student is facing extradition to America where he will NOT get a fair trial. Home secretary Charles Clark has the final decision which does not bode well.

It was a tragic mistake caused by him running away and onto a train.

That mans' death was a tragic mistake caused by him running away when stopped by the police and running onto a tube train. The police who were following him and who stopped him at the station, thought that he was a suicide bombers intending to carry out an attack on another tube train. When he ran onto the train they thought he was about to detonate a bomb hidden under his clothing so they opened fire. There was no intention to kill an innocent man, there was no coverup, it was a genuine tragic mistake which the Metropolitan Police have strongly appolagised for and have offered the dead man's family massive compensation.

If 'Concerned' is going to write about a subject of such importance then he/she should get his/her facts straight first.

Firstly he was not running away. The fact that he jogged to get the train is irrelevant because he was sat down reading a newspaper when the cops calmly approached him before pumping 8 bullets into his head at three second intervals. There was no 'chase'. There was no spur of the moment decision making. The whole thing was a cold, calculated action by individuals who had been given an order of 'shoot to kill'. It was state sanctioned murder. The idea that he was concealing a bomb under his clothes is equally absurd as he was wearing a thin denim jacket thus making his 'concealed' bomb the smallest device in the history of Jihad. There is also the fact that the 'suspects' ( the failed July bombers) had carried their bombs in rucksacks. The only thing that Jean Charles was holding was a free newspaper that he had stopped to pick up on way into the station. This is another clue that these fuckwits should have spotted. If you are about to kill yourself for Allah are you really going to be interested in what the infidel's newspaper has got to say that morning?

Finally heres a multiple choice question for 'Concerned' and everyone else who believes that we live in a democracy:

If you accidentally shot a Policeman 7 times in the head, would you be:

a) In prison waiting for trial having been vilified by the media?
b) In hospital handcuffed to your bed after resisting arrest?
c) Enjoying a paid holiday at the tax payers expence, your privacy well being taken care of?

Questions Remain

The fact is that we still don't positively know who shot him, or who they were working for.

Does anyone know where this electrician was working that morning? Perhaps he witnessed something he shouldn't have?

Simple answers.

He was followed from his flat which shared a doorway with one of the terror suspects. He was wrongly ID'd as the suspect presumably because he looked a bit foreign. He didnt 'see' anything and was on his way to work.

The facts of this case are horrific enough without looking for conspiracys.

Perhaps

That story has not been supported by hard evidence, and the police have already been caught lying.

Who shot him, and who did they work for? Sorry, but you do not empty a clip at a prone man unless you want them dead.

Support Is Nicer

why there are questions on the killers

03.04.2006 22:57

I think the reason question was asked as to who actually did the shooting is that this reminded us of the kind of killing the SAS or other military units might carry out. It might not make much difference to Jean Charles' grieving family, who just want justice, but others of us who live in London would like to know if the military has been let loose on our streets and tube, particularly if its some shadowy elite unit who just kill and regard themselves as answerable to nobody.
It has been admitted such personnel were engaged in surveillance, so what about the rest of the job? There was a time when we'd have expected MPs to be told if such a decision had been taken, nowadays I don't know whether whoever decides such things would even bother to tell the stooges in the government.
