On Monday night a Character in Coronation Street used the term 'white trash' ever since then the BNP and other neo-nazi trash have been orchestrating a campaign to try and get the shows writers sacked.

As ever with the BNP looking at the issue in the slightest details reveals how ludicrous their claims are. Firstly if we look at the context of the quote it was clearly recognised as racist and unacceptable by the character of Sunita. After her brother used the phrase she replied angrily along the lines of, "how dare you. All of my best friends are what you call white trash" She then threw him out of her house as a result of this comment.
The BNP also claim that using a derogatory term to describe a black character would be unacceptable, against this is rubbish. Only a few weeks previously the new character played by Craig Charles was subjected to numerous bouts of racist abuse, including being referred to as a "monkey". Strangely enough the BNP did not mount a campaign against this incident.
Also if you can bare to watch the BNPtv report on this incident it is clear that it is not just black characters in Coronation street which have got the BNP so angry, during the broadcast the BNP demand that all homosexual characters should be either removed from the show or storylines involving them reserved for after the watershed. Especially if they are involved in a 'multicultural relationship' whatever that is.
But perhaps the real motivation for this 'outrage' is that the actor Shobna Gulati who plays the character Sunita (who you might remember one who objected so strongly to the term white trash but the BNP don't mention that). the BNP do not like because she is Shobna not part of the 'master race' and as a result is on the BNP's list for people they would like to repatriate, not only this but she has dared to speak out against the BNP and has campaigned against their race hate. Perhaps this is why they have made her the focus of their campaign.

These are the people who complain about so-called "political correctness" in Britain - you know the drill, we can't say Christmas 'cos it offends der effnics etc etc - but are the first to mount PC protests about any minor usage of language deemed to be "anti-white."

Most people who complain about "political correctness gone mad" are often those who like to think of themselves as the moral majority - and so cant bear the fact that their attitudes are anti-social and amoral.

For example the 'article' accuses the BNP of failing to protest when a character in the soap played by actor Craig Charles was called a monkey. But he was not called a monkey. I saw that episode. If the scriptwriter intended to portray the white actor who used these words in an unfriendly light he only showed his ignorance. The character was a cuckolded husband who went to see Steve Macdonald at his place of work. Approached by Charles with the words 'Can I help you?' he replied 'No, I want the organ grinder, not the moneky' - a fairly traditional way of demanding to see the owner, not the employee.
This is not the first time Coronasian Street has got itself into trouble by lying to its gullible public, or perhaps commissioning scripts from know-nothing sixteen year-olds. Recently an elderly man who referred to to Dev as 'chief' during one conversation - generally equivalent to 'pal' or 'mate' where the name of the person to whom one is talking is unknown - provoked the character to make similar complaints about 'racism'.
Plainly the term 'white trash' is a racially charged one. It is equally true that if I referred to asians or blacks as 'trash' I would be arrested, and as such is offensive as it privileges non-white sensitivites over those whose ancestors actually built this country. .
