"Simon Jones was killed on 24th April 1998, aged 24, on his first day as a casual worker at Shoreham dock [near Brighton] - another victim of our growing casual labour economy. He was sent to work unloading cargo inside a ship - one of the most dangerous jobs in the country - with only a few minutes 'training'. Within hours of starting work his head was almost severed by the grab of a crane."

"Between the 1997 Labour conference and today [March 29, 2005], almost 5,000 people have been killed in "workplace incidents". By the time the law [Corporate Manslaughter] is implemented (assuming that Labour is re-elected and that the latest promise isn't broken), another few hundred are likely to die."
