Blair to visit Nottingham Uni THIS Saturday

L P | 12.01.2006 18:09 | World

Blair reckons he's coming to Nottingham Uni campus this saturday (14th Jan 2006). News leaked from the University suggests that he will be holding audience at the East Midlands Conference Centre (time not available). Only paid up members of the Uni's Labour Student Society are welcome...lets gatecrash this cosy party.

Two days before Blair's visit to Nottingham Uni, local and student activists are calling out for support and numbers to make sure his presence doesnt go unchallenged. News leaked from inside the university suggests that security has been on campus for the last week, establishing a safe environment for the conference, which is open exclusively to paid up Labour Students Society members. The president of the society was told that if there was any trouble on Saturday, the future of his political career would be on the line. Charming.

Although the time is not yet available, it will be posted on indymedia as and when it is known. People will be gathering from 10 outside the Union (Portland Building). Creative and visual protest called for; the media will be there in force. Make sure you are.

Source for "your political career is on the line"?

Any idea on a source?

If so, please let me know.

Another example of how New Labour operates by intimidation and bullying.

For the scrapbook, like.

Just been past the East Midlands Conference Centre and cant see any signs of security preparations. Maybe its disinformation of they've changed the venue.

The uni confirmed there's a Lab party 'policy forum' at the centre all this weekend. They said cabinet members and possibly "more senior" peeps will be attending though said the exact 'programme' wasn't confirmed.
See you there!
