Crisis for Refugees
in Detention Centre Malta

The situation for refugees in Malta is in crisis. Ever since the European Union extended the operations of its "Eastern Sea Border Centre" to patrol the seas around Malta, the number of refugees kept in detention centres on Malta has dramatically increased. The situation of refugees there has been getting worse. Reports from inside a detention centre speak of seven Refugees being beaten in plain sight and then taken away. They are now missing. There is particular concern about four of them, whose condition was serious when they disappeared.
