Oh Brother!
Sister | 06.01.2006 09:31 | Analysis | London
'...how thrilled the electors of Bethnal Green and Bow must be to find their new MP pursuing the cause of truth and justice on the banana-yellow sofas of the Big Brother house.
Entering to his own shouts of "Stop the war!" Galloway had the glazed half-smile of a politician entering Nirvana - a place where the camera is always on you and the microphones are never turned off.

dunno if they will allow for any of GG's views to be aired ,when he comes out with them
there are millions of people tune into this show, so, why not take the oppertunity to get his views across.
,the war machine is still killing in Iraq/A'STAN.
if tv is the opiate of the masses, well its a legitimate political move.by GG
whats your problem with that ?

'Sister' - what do you know about Bethnal green and Bow ?

I agree that nobody I know in this constituency was asked if George Galloway should be on that TV prog before we became aware by the ‘news’ of his appearance after he had made the appearance.
But then nobody who's been saying things in our name and against Galloway appears to know anything about what we are faced with in this constituency.
Suppose Galloway were 'in the constituency' today rather than in that Channel 4 programme studio wherever that may be! So what?
I doubt there would be much difference to what we face.
After the hype is over - and it was over even before 17 May 2005 when George made all those USA headlines about something very different from the day to day realities we face -
The real difference to our lives is made by us. Little people. We have to get to grips with our daily problems and face the future on our own.
Wonder how critics of George Galloway’s ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ detour would care about the real grassroots issues in the Bethnal green and Bow constituency if it wasn’t for the fact that they are now talking about Galloway because of his (to them) notoriety.
May be it is a cliché but Mps don’t make any real difference to our lives.
And the same must be true of other ‘elected’ persons.
