Broadway Market - the strugggle against Gentrification continues

local lad | 23.12.2005 10:28 | Free Spaces | Globalisation | Social Struggles | London

Local residents woke up to the violent eviction of tony's cafe, in broadway market , hackney , east London - on the 21st of Dec. Immediately the developers hired men began destroying the building but were stopped by campaigners calling health and safety and closing them down. HOWEVER the campaign to save Tony's cafe and the further gentrification of the street is not over. The inspiring mix of locals, activists, squatters and more has vowed to continue the struggle..

If you want to help this incredibly popular community struggle - come down to the market on Sat 24th of Dec ( any time after 11am till evening) and find out whats plans are in the pipeline and help distribute our antigentrification christmas cards to the market goers..

and DONT MISS .. our special
