URGENT - Protest against eviction on Broadway Market 6pm today

Francesca's Café in Broadway Market, Hackney has been evicted today from 7am. There will be a local show of solidarity against the eviction outside the Café at 6pm this evening, please come and show your anger and support.

URGENT!!!!! EVICTION OF OCCUPATION AT 34 BROADWAY MARKET
Sheriffs and Police broke into Tony's Café this morning, injuring one of the occupiers and have allowed Dr Wratten's men to start an immediate demolition. Within an hour the building was rendered unliveable.
We lodged an appeal yesterday with the High Court but the bailiffs ignored that and went ahead anyway. Two of the occupiers are at the courts right now trying to get a stay of execution but Wratten's men have done so much damage that it seems unlikely we could re-occupy the café.
The sad thing is that more people than ever were coming to the café and there was still a fantastic energy to the occupation.
We plan a show of local solidarity tonight at 6pm, outside the Café. Please come and show your anger and support!

Oggetto: Il sindaco scrive al Mayor londinese per salvare il “Francesca Cafè” gestito dal narese Tony.
Anche il sindaco di Naro, on. Maria Grazia Brandara, interviene per dare man forte al suo concittadino Calogero Platia, emigrato tantissimo tempo fa a Londra, dove a Broadway Market gestisce il Francesca Cafè.
Qui, giorno 21 dicembre scorso, sono arrivate le ruspe per la demolizione del famoso locale italiano che dovrebbe far spazio a lussuosi appartamenti di proprietà del ricco costruttore inglese
Roger Wratten. Ma, numerosi sono giunti i clienti e gli estimatori del Francesca Cafè, impedendo così che la cancellazione del locale venisse portata a termine.
Adesso i clienti del locale italiano hanno occupato il n. 34 di Broadway Market, dove sorge il caffè, e , stringendosi attorno a Calogero Platia, detto Tony L’Italiano, intendono far fallire il progetto di demolizione del Francesca Cafè che costituisce un importante pezzo di storia del mercato hacneyano di Broadway.
Pure la famosa fotografa londinese Gabrielle Motola è intervenuta a favore della preservazione del caffè italiano ed addirittura il sito web Libcom ha organizzato una vera e propria battaglia mediatica in favore del locale di Tony L’Italiano di cui da il resoconto giornaliero su
Il sindaco Brandara ha ritenuto di scrivere una lettera al suo collega londinese Ken Livingstone, chiedendogli un intervento che scongiuri la demolizione del Francesca Cafè e preservi la struttura urbanistica del famoso mercato di Broadway.
“Sarebbe opportuno desistere” -scrive il Sindaco di Naro al Mayor of London- “dal trasformare una fascinosa periferia urbana di Londra in un banale plastico di modernità senza anima”.
Chissà che questa lettera non possa far presa su Ken Livingstone, famoso come uomo politico anti-establishment, che potrebbe guadagnarsi il merito di aver preservato intatto il tessuto urbanistico di Broadway Market.
