Following the gathering of a large drunken mob on Cronella beach trouble continues in Sydney

A large group of white Australian's have continued to cause havoc tonight. Having attacked anybody of Asian appearance at Cronella rioting has now spread to other beaches. The attacks are in retaliation to the assualt of two white lifeguards at Cronella the previous week which were allegedly carried out by a Lebanese gang. The drunken group chanted 'no Lebs' in anger at the attacks they think were instigated by Lebanese gangs who have something of a presence in Sydney.

There has been extensive damage caused by rioters who have smashed properties and cars in Maroabra and Brighton le sands where violence erupted in the streets. Policemen have been reported injured and a man has been stabbed in what has been described as a revenge attack by an Asian gang.

To what extent the formation of Lebanese gangs and the scenes of mobocracy there actions have induced relate politically to the Thatcherite policies implemented by the Howard government should be propounded.
