To mark the 8th International Animal Rights Day, 15 members of Nottingham Animal Rights took part in a candlelit vigil outside the QMC University of Nottingham laboratories in remembrance of all the animals that have died and suffered all over the world in experiments and research.

15 members of Nottingham Animal Rights took part in a candlelit vigil outside the QMC University of Nottingham laboratories in remembrance of all the animals that have died and suffered all over the world in experiments and research.
The 10th of December marks the 8th International Animal Rights Day and Nottingham’s animal vigil will take place in conjunction with many other vigils across the world. It has been endorsed by Joanna Lumley, Benjamin Zephaniah, Hayley Mills and Michael Mansfield QC. The day falls in the same week that MP for Broxtowe, Nick Palmer demands a tax on laboratory animal usage in order to fund much needed, humane alternatives.
Nottingham University have been exposed on several occasions for carrying out many horrific animal experiments. Cats at the University have had electrodes implanted in their brains whilst being ‘lightly anaesthetised’, rabbits have had their spinal cords crushed with forceps to test the effects of chemical stimuli when paralysed and rats have been extensively used to test the effects of valium.
