MUHAMMAD HAQUE POLITICAL POETRY ON THE DEGENERATION OF DEMOCRACY IN 2005

MUHAMMAD HAQUE | 08.12.2005 16:35 | Analysis | Social Struggles | London | World

The forthcoming local council elections to be held in parts of the UK including in London have been 'decided' in effect by the parties that have apparently selected the best candidates for representing their local areas. This is utterly untrue. Local people must have proper and full and transparent say in who gets to be selected to represent the locality. Parties must not have that control any longer.

‘...

I AM NOT GOING TO VOTE AT THIS ELECTION
A ROUGH UNETHICAL EMPTY SELECTION

THEY DID NOT SELECT FOR THE LOCAL PEOPLE
THEY DID NOT SELECT WITH LOCAL PEOPLE
THEY SELECTED DESPITE THE LOCAL PEOPLE
THEY SELECTED BY DEFYING LOCAL PEOPLE

PARADING PARTIES AT THE COMING ELECTION
IS A SURE WAY FOR DEMOCRACY- REJECTION
NO MATTER WHAT THE CANDIDATES THINK
THEIR BRAINS VANISH THEIR MINDS SHRINK
AS THEY PROFFER EVER SMOOTHER FACES
VACANT EMPTY PLIANT FODDER DISGRACES

THEY BRING ON THE OVERPAID POSTHOLDERS
TO DEFY SENSE AND DARE LOCAL BEHOLDERS
