Just three names you should know, which you probably have never heard off!

Cambridge Thai Boxing Academy opens it doors to the first major Thai Boxing event to be held in Cambridge for nearly 10 years. The 'Re-Union of the Art' light sparring competition, saw fighters coming from as far a field as Hitchin, Newmarket, London and Birmingham. These events have continued on through out the remainder of the year, with some five other competitions drawing crowds of one hundred plus, loyal local supporters of the events.

We have supported local community groups on several occasions, providing demonstrations for fetes, schools, summer galas, and helping to provide a level of entertainment at fund raisers.

So why have you not heard of any of this?

Could it be that the future of the Howard Mallet is more important than the users and the local community? Or could it simply be that with nothing seemingly going on at the Howard Mallet, future plans can go on with little intervention?

It has taken me three very long, hard years to bring my students up to the high standard at which they now compete, locally, nationally and now internationally. To bring the name of Cambridge to the forefront of the sport and art of Muay Thai (also known as Thai Boxing) here in England, and yet we seem to be unheard of...

I ask you please, don't allow my hard work with the local community, youth, residents and my students get swept away by the ever demanding need to take away public space and sports facilities.

We all need the Howard Mallet Centre.
