"Don't bomb us" say Al Jazeera staff

Al Jazeera media staff have begun a campaign blog denouncing reports that the US government considered bombing their offices.

"We are not afraid of your threats - we are journalists. And there thousands like us around the world. You may be able to kill some of us - but you will never kill us all."

This is the statement on the new website set up by Al Jazeera journalists protesting against US attacks on their staff, including the killing of reporter Tariq Ayoub in April 2003, and ongoing threats that have been made against them.

The site is an effort to show the human face of the people who President Bush reportedly wanted to attack, simply because he did not like their coverage of the war in Iraq.

The Al Jazeera journalists say that they are not intimidated by the reports and are demanding to be told the truth about them.

The website features pictures of the Al Jazeera staff, along with the caption: "These are the men and women who bring you the news at Al Jazeera. We have a diverse staff complement. Our people are made up of dozens of nationalities"
