REMINDER & UPDATE:

'READING RE-CONVERGENCE'
A local activist get-together...

Thur 24th November, 7pm,

RISC Global Cafe, 35-39 London St, Reading.

On Thursday 24th November we are calling out for local activist groups and individuals alike to get together in RISC's Global Cafe to discuss any and all specific initiatives/actions/events they'd like to talk about, or sort out working on these with others. All Reading or Berkshire based progressive, grassroots groups and individuals are invited!

Some of the presentations allready promised include diverse groups such as local anti-authoritarians The RAGE Collective, a new local group acting in solidarity with Mexico's indigenous Zapatista rebels, the Socialist Party, the Peace Party and others.

There are also exciting proposals for new initiatives and upcoming events including starting a new Reading based group to resist ID cards and the 'national identity database', local distribution of Cafe Rebelde (fairtrade coffee direct from the mountains of autonomous Southeast Mexico), organisation of next years 'Reading Green Day', a campaign for a 'mass workers party', the ongoing 'Nukewatch' and resistance to new military developments at AWE Aldermaston, creative demonstrations in Reading on the issues surrounding the World Trade Organisation summit in Hong Kong in December, and a response to the reduction in local allotment space in the form of land occupations to grow our own food! And this is all before we get to the bar and start chatting!

We plan on having a brief series of introductions, then everyone can present their plans, ideas, initiatives or any common activity they want to see happen. After this introduction, we will have a relaxed social evening, where hopefully people can discuss at a little more length the best ways to take these ideas further and set about organising them (or getting on with already organised programmes).

If you, or your group, wants to bring in any kind of leaflets, booklets or other resources feel free to do so!

Please forward this invitation, we hope to see you on Thursday!

Solidarity in struggle, Reading Reconvergence.
