... but more needed

Although we are pleased to see the IM editors have agreed to some of our demands concerning the hiding of comments we are still unhappy with the policy of hiding some posts rather than transfering them to the "Hidden" section. This is simply unaceptable, the fact is it being done by predominately one editor may mean the wider volunteer base is unaware of the extent of the action, we urge you to do what we have done and check the site throughout the day using the 'mirrors' to see the extent of the editing.

Our monitoring and reporting will continue until a return to the Editorial Policy is observed for at least six months

Bogus claims of a non-existent team

22.11.2005 12:20

The display of hidden comments has been planned ever since the site was moved over to MIR. In no way is the 'IM Monitoring Team' responsible for the long planned development.

Despite the fact that the non-existent "IM Monitoring Team" has claimed to have access to the admin interface, the deluded individual who keeps posting up this disinformation appears to have no idea of how the interface works, nor of what information is available through it.

The poster responsible for the repeated "IM Monitoring Team" posts has so far failed to provide dates for the periods in which they claim posts were hidden , and has failed to provide the URL for their non-existent website.

If the team really exists, then they should provide this information. Sending the URL to the features list would be one way of ensuring that it got into the public domain.

Until credible evidence exists that there is a bona-fide team, doing reserach on IM's moderation practices the posts will continue to be hidden, and no action will result from them.
