Leading international development campaigners, and founder members of the Make Poverty History coalition, the World Development Movement (WDM), are hosting a free day of campaigning workshops and discussion in Exeter next weekend.

WDM's Marlene Barrett said: “Want to know what happens after Make Poverty History? Baffled by the G8 debt deal? Want to know more about where your aid money goes? Come and meet like-minded people, share ideas and information, learn more about the issues and join the debate on how best to win justice for the world’s poor. This day is for both experienced campaigners and newly interested activists.

Workshops include:

- Debt and democracy: Find out what the G8 debt deal really means and how the conditions attached to debt relief are denying democracy to the global south.

- Dirty Aid, Dirty Water: The latest on WDM’s campaign to stop UK funded privatisation turning off the taps.

-Globalisation for beginners: Debt, aid, trade, development… Find out how it all fits together and where you come in.

- Trade Justice: WDM calls for Trade Justice, not free trade. Find out what this really means

- Think Local: Building activism in your community.

- Get Crafty: Creative banner and prop-making.


WDM’s Head of Policy, Peter Hardstaff will be running sessions on WDM campaigns, looking back over 2005 and forward to 2006
